about the artist
Meet Susan Grimm
As a young child, my mother sent me to Saturday morning art classes nearby at a friend’s house. There I practiced drawing buildings, boats, pets and wildlife and progressed to entering local contests with my artwork.
Fast forward 30 years when I was raising my young family, I resumed new portrait art classes as an adult. There I learned composition, color theory and all about colored pencils and graphite. I then found out about the Colored Pencil Society of America and discovered more advanced classes from the masters I met there. My absolute favorite medium is colored pencils on a variety of papers including drafting film. I use my own photo references when possible and I often carry a camera with me to catch that colorful moment. As clients hear more and more about my work I happily use their photos with permission.
Thank you so much for visiting my website!
The true use of art is, first, to cultivate the artist’s own spiritual nature.
